catching up; me me me

The 12th of the month I went to my orientation... it went as expected... sitting on ones arse for 8+ hours as you go through the computer training and read the company policies...my next orientation meeting was scheduled for the 15th, but that one did not work out. They rescheduled it to the day before and a few of us did not get the message. Of course, I learned this after showing up at 9am that Sunday morning; the good thing is that I met the store manager. We chatted a bit and he asked if I had any questions... well as a matter of fact I did. I wanted to know if they could PLEASE get me in and started BEFORE Black Friday; I did not care if I was just moving boxes. I needed to be familiar with stuff. So someone gave me a call on Tuesday to reschedule the rest of my orientation... and tell me when I first work. The 21st I did both.
It was so cool! To me and my lame ass self anyhow... Half way through the orientation, giving out what my Mom refers to as my Psycho-babble answers, and getting odd looks from the store manager for my troubles, he said something about how some of might still be there after January. (we are seasonal help) We also learned that some of us had been scheduled to get "floor time" before Black Friday, but that there were not enough hours available so now that was not gonna happen. My Human Relations director showed me how to find my schedule on line; and I learned that most of the hours cut in the store were given to me!!! Woohoo for kissing ass nicely!!! Later the H.R. lady asked me if I would be interested in staying on after January; later still MY Supervisor asked!
I have since been asked by them both seperately the same question yet again. My answer became "Yep. I have a plan and it involves me having a job."
Monday I did an hour on the floor by myself! And thankfully the world did not fall apart...
This is my first real retail job. I have learned that there are "goals" to be met each day. Thankfully I am just seasonal right now, so my goal is low. My first day I made 78% of it, the second I made 255% of it!!!!!!!!!!!
Black Friday, I was the #4 sales person; which I think means that only 3 people had more in sales than me.
My feet and legs fucking kill me from all the running on the concrete floor, but I will work something out to help deal with that... not sure what yet. I am afraid that I am gonna have to come off the money and buy some decent shoes... too bad that probably means they will be ugly too. :(
My goal in this case is to get REALLY hired in January after inventory, then find a way to get into Management training... No it is not what I want to do. But it has a better chance of making it so I _CAN_ do what I want. Macy's IS Nationwide ya know... :D

On another note....

I made a friend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And that is all I am sharing for now. :eyes:

well.... :lolly:... here is to your steps through. I am flattered and honored to be an unwitting accomplice in anything meaningful in anyone's life. :teamwork:
